Necessary companion of disabled visitor admitted free. Disabled car park some distance from site entrance, passengers may disembark at entrance (vehicles to return to car park). Step free access to baby changing facilities. Braille and large print guides available with opportunities to touch Unisex accessible toilet outside main entrance (not clearly signed) standard cubicle in Courtyard. Tearoom: step free access due to fire regulations only one wheelchair user may visit the tearoom at any one time however, staff are happy to set a table in the adjoining Great Hall if necessary thick handled cutlery available. Gardens are mostly step free.
A re-created Elizabethan 17th century knot garden and yew tunnel, with herb garden and historic vegetable garden planted with some of the earliest known varieties grown in England eg: colewort salsify leaf beet borecole winter radish haricot beans and marrowfat peas.
