URPoint Details
A quiet little village with a winding from Great Dalby to Melton with a lovely church concealed by trees with Little Dalby Hall situated in a densely wooded park
Local legend has it, that this is the original home of the famous Stilton cheese, brought about by the housekeeper at Little Dalby Hall. Mrs Orton in 1720 made her cheese from the cows grazing on the meadow. The innkeeper from The Bell Inn in Stilton began buying and selling the cheese in large quantities – hence the name of Stilton Cheese.
