The church of St Mary the Virgin dates from Norman times and inside are two extremely rare 14th century wooden effigies, thought to be Sir John and Lady Filiol (after whom Phillows Farm is called). The large 14th century wall painting of St Christopher was uncovered in 1922 by the rector, the Reverend (later Canon) Jesse Berridge.
