A delightful village across the river from Grassington has charming greystone houses around the green.
A charming little brook is crossed by three bridges a packhorse bridge, a clapper bridge, which takes its name from the use of long flat stones and a modern bridge.
Dominating the scene is the façade of Fountaine’s Hospital, originally an almshouse for six poor women, but now for men also and was founded by Richard Fountaine in 1721.
