One of England's most beautiful cities, dominated by the country's third largest cathedral and well over 2000 years of history. Well preserved Roman walls and remains (including the famous Newport arch), a Norman castle dating back to 1068 and many timber-framed houses.

The remains of Lincoln Bishop's Palace are a little known treasure, literally in the shadow of the Cathedral. Worth searching out, access is through Chesney Gate from the southside of Minster Yard. Events throughout the year, especially notable is the Lincoln Castle Bowmen an impressive display of medieval archery using the deadly English longbow.

Guildhall, Saltergate. Open First Saturday of the month 10am-noon & 2-4.30pm. Admission free. Ancient Guildhall and Council Chamber.
Contains Lincoln's Civic Insignia, considered the finest collection of civic regalia outside London. Also the City's charter dating from 1141, even pre-dating the Magna Carta.

The Theatre Royal, Clasketgate. The last horseshoe theatre in existence.
Early 'theatre' in Lincoln was performed in Broadgate and the first permanent theatre in the City was built around 1731 by Erasmus Audley. This
