Limpsfield

Limpsfield , England

URPoint Details

Set in fine walking country near the border with Kent, the village has a main street of charming old buildings.
To the north the Downs rise to nearly 900ft and afford fine views from the top of Titsey Hill where there was once a Roman villa.

The parish Church of St Peter is Norman and the tower is unusually placed in the south wall of the east end of the church.
The nave and chancel aisle are 12th century and the chancel is 13th century and some of the stained glass is 16th century.

The grave of the composer Frederick Delius is among the yews in the churchyard. Although he died in France, Delius wished to be buried in a ‘quiet country churchyard in a south of England village’.
