Free access at all times. The village was the birthplace of John Leyden (1776-1811), poet, orientalist and friend of Sir Walter Scott.
The obelisk was set up in 1861 and a tablet on a thatched cottage records his birth here
Another famous son of Denholm was Sir James Murray, editor of the Oxford English Dictionary in a house in Main Street.
