A small town situated on the Gady Burn looking towards the long ridge of Bennachie to the southeast where the castle dates from 1661.
The village has some lovely old houses and a green where a ‘bull stone’ was used to tether the bulls when baiting was in progress.
The two wings of Leslie House were destroyed in the 18th century and dates partly from 1670.
Beyond Auchleven is the restored mansion of Lickleyhead built in 1629.
Leslie means garden of the pool lios (gaelic for garden and linn for pool.
