The Baptist Church bears a plaque to the memory of John Noyes, burnt at the stake in September 1557 for refusing to becoming a catholic. The villagers with one exception doused their domestic fires in protest, and the one fire which had not been completely doused was used to light the stake.
The chapel was built in 1808.
