URPoint Details

The Guildhall of Corpus Christi built in 1529 is a fine example of a close studded timber building. On one of the corners is a full length figure of Lord de Vere. This early 16th century timber-framed Tudor building, originally the hall of the Guild of Corpus Christi, overlooks and dominates the market place. Within the nine rooms of the Guildhall are displays of local history, farming, industry and the development of the railway, and a unique exhibition of 700 years of Medieval woollen cloth trade. There is a delightful walled garden with a 19th century lock up and armoury.
