URPoint Details

Lavenham is probably one of the most photographed towns in England, and has been used in many movies with its setting in beautiful green countryside.
There are many ornate Tudor wooden buildings dating back to the 15th century and some of the houses have a distinct lean to them.

John Constable went to school here, and was friends with Jane Taylor who wrote "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star".

The Priory is open April to 31st October 10.30am to 5.30pm. Beautiful timber-framed Historic House & Garden dating from 1600. The original medieval hall lies in the centre of the building and houses a wonderful Bossanyi Art collection of paintings, drawings and stained glass windows. The Courtyard is paved with York stone from an old threshing mill. The Herb garden, enclosed by a Yew hedge contains over 100 species. The refectory restaurant offers delicious homemade cakes, soups and the jacket filled potatoes are wonderful.

Little Hall is open April to October, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday 2.30pm to 6pm. Outstanding 15th century Hall with a crown post roof. There is a fine collection of Gayer-Anderson antique furniture, paintings and books.

Market Place has a 16th century cross
