URPoint Details
A resort on the east side of the island of Arran on Lamlash Bay and sheltered by Kingscross Point to the south and Clauchlands Point to the north. In the bay and associated with the naval battle of Largs in 1263 when Haco of Norway rallied his defeated fleet lies Holy Island rising to over 1000ft high. Below the hill and facing the bay is the cave of St Molaise with Runic inscriptions. Inland from Lamlash a road ascends through the Monamore Glen to nearly 1,000ft some parts are very steep being 1 in 6, before descending through Glen Scorrodale towards Lagg on the southwest coast..
