URPoint Details
This famous pass was essentially for long distance walkers linking Speyside to Deeside and cutting through the great Cairngorm range with the distance between Aviemore to Braemar being 28miles.
The northern edge of the pass is overshadowed by the great cliffs of Cairn Lochan rising to 3,983ft and also by Lurcher's Crag at 3,448ft the path then descending into the woodlands of the great Rothiemurchus forest.
The track reaches a height of more than 2,700ft between the shoulders of Ben Macdhui at 4,296ft and Braeriach at 4,248ft with huge boulders near the lovely Pools of Dee.
