The town’s name comes from the Danish King Canute, or Knut who is said to have forded the local stream.
Knutsford is a charming town with narrow streets of fine black-and-white houses.
The Church of St John the Baptist, built in 1744 is in a brick Classical design. The west tower has urns at each corner of the parapet as does the body of the church, and the windows have stone dressings.
