Knole is one of the largest and most famous private house in England and sits within a magnificent deer park owned by Lord Sackville.
Dating from 1456, the house was enlarged in 1603 by Thomas Sackville, 1st Earl of Dorset, to whom it was granted by Elizabeth I.
The 13 state rooms which are open to the public contain a collection of portraits, including works by Reynolds and Gainsborough, silver, tapestries and an important collection of 17th century English furniture.
