Knockin (pronounced Nukkin)
Mellow brick and sandstone buildings line the broad main street, once fortified by the Normans and stones from the stronghold were used to build the two delightful little bridges in the 18th century.
Top Farm is a splendid black-and-white Elizabethan building with quaint windows and carved timbers.
The parish Church of St Mary was originally built as the castle chapel. Heavily restored in 1847 when a yellow-brick belfry was added.
