Kirkcaldy (kir-kawdi)
The esplanade stretches along the Firth of Forth and is known by many Scots as the' Lang Toun’.
There are some houses overlooking the harbour that date to the 15th century and in Sailors Walk some are 17th century.
The architect Robert Adam was born here in 1728.
Ravenscraig Castle sits on a rocky headland northeast of the town and was built by James II in 1459, and is said to be the first Scottish fortress designed for defence by artillery.
