URPoint Details
One of the most beautiful towns in Westmorland set on a hill above the River Lune. Spanning the Lune, south of the town, is the Devil’s Bridge, dating from about the 13th century (where legend has it that it was built by the devil in one night). The huge pool beneath the pool is full of salmon and a favourite spot for aqualung diving.
There are many fine buildings including the 17th century Manor House and 18th century Fountain House. Underley Hall built in 1825 is a mile north of town.
