To the south of Perth is a really interesting historic area where you will find Burleigh Castle, Kinross House and the wonderful setting of Loch Leven — one of the most beautifully haunting castles and prison to the young Mary, Queen of Scots in 1567.
The 17th century Tolbooth was restored by the Crown in 1771 and decorated by Robert Adam and on the carved Town Cross are the old jougs and the steeple of the old kirk is 18th century.
