URPoint Details
A well known haven for climbers and at the inn was where soldiers are said to have gathered before the massacre of Glencoe.
The setting is magnificent with the great rock peak of Buchaille Etive Mor rising to 3,345ft (the Shepherd of Etive’ towering to the west.
To the south rise the peaks of Black Mount with Sron na Creise rising to 2,952ft, Meall Bhuiridh at 3,636ft, Clachet at 3,602ft and farther south Stob Ghabhaar at 3,565ft.
To the north of the Glencoe road is Altnafeadh where the former military road to Kinlochleven over the so-called ‘Devil’s Staircase’ rises to 1,754ft.
