George V (George Frederick Ernest Albert was born on 3 June 1865 Marlborough House, London, as the second son of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Albert Edward and Alexandra. His father was the eldest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. His mother was the eldest daughter of King Christian IX of Denmark and Louise of Hesse-Kassel.
He was King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Emperor of India, from 6 May 1910 through the First World War (1914 to 18) until his death on 20 January 1936.
George married Mary Teck on 6 July 1893 at the Chapel Royal in St James's Palace, London.
After his death in 1936 'May' as she was known retired to Marlborough House in London.
Their eldest son became Edward VIII. After his abdication, the second son became King George VI.
