A sheltered little resort situated on the banks of the beautiful Holy Loch in the Cowal peninsula, with some fine woods and rhododendrons.
To the southeast is Strone Point overlooking the Firth of Clyde.
The great Saint Mun was Fintan Macumoi son of Tolchan, to whom Adamna devoted a section of the life of St Columba.
The churchyard is the burial place of the Argyll family, including the Earl of Archibald who died at Flodden.
