Situated at the tip of the Rosneath Peninsula and linked by ferry to Gourock, across the Clyde estuary.
To the north the road runs round the tip and ends at Coulport which stands on the east shore of Loch Long.
The Castle of Knockderry stands on the dungeons of an old tower.
