A quiet resort on Bute south of Rothesay with a fine sandy bay facing the twin Cumbrae islands across the Firth of Clyde.
To the southwest on a narrow road are the Standing Stones of Lubas and the ruined chapel of St Blane and near it to the west on the sandy Dunagoil Bay is a vitrified fort.
To the north on the coast is Mount Stuart the seat of the Marquis of Bute.
