URPoint Details
One of the prettiest villages of Upper Wharfedale, reached across a lovely old stone bridge.
Northeast a minor road makes a steep climb up the cleft between Great Whernside, 2310ft and Buckden Pike dropping down into the North Riding by way of Coverdale in Wensleydale.
Kilnsey Crag, by the roadside, 3 miles south of the village attracts experienced climbers. Close to the Crag is the starting point of Mastiles Lane, which leads 5 miles west over the moors to Malham Tarn – a magnificent but lonely walk.
