URPoint Details
The nave and tower of St George's Church are of late 12th century origin. A feature of the tower is the north-east stair turret with a sloping stone cap, which gives it something of an unfinished appearance.
The inner south doorway is a fine example of late Norman design. The tympanum displays a figure shooting an Arrow into the mouth of a monster, with the word 'Sagittarius' above - some see this as a basis for the church's dedication to St George. The font is 13th century.
