The Church of St Peter and St Paul has been built on Roman remains, has an Anglo-Saxon cross and was recorded in Norman times.
It has an uneven brick floor, triple decker pulpit, many fine carvings and an alms-box made out of the hollow of a tree.
The Barnardiston family, one of Suffolk's most important and oldest, stretches back 27 unbroken generations and have tombs in the church.
