URPoint Details
Situated in the heart of rural Warwickshire, the Jaguar Land Rover facilities at Gaydon have hosted high-technology design and engineering works since 2000. Gaydon is also the home to the world's greatest collection of British cars at the nearby Heritage Motor Centre and the Aston Martin design centre is also close to the Jaguar Land Rover site.
In previous incarnations, the Gaydon site has been the base for Rover and, of course, Land Rover vehicle development and, when taken over by BMW in the 1990s, remained the base for production of Rover saloons, a re-birth of the MG badge for a time, and the development of the new Mini.
Bleeding money from poor Rover sales, BMW retained the new Minis, but sold the facilities to a management company formed from an enthusiastic but, as it turned out, under-funded executive team. The Rover name and engineering IP was later bought by a Chinese company which now makes an adapted version of the Rover saloon in China and hold the brand rights for the heritage British sportscar, MG.
Gaydon iIncorporates Jaguar Land Rover Engineering and Design Centre, Marketing, Sales and Service and other services including finance and HR.
