URPoint Details
An ancient lychgate, one of the best of its kind in the country, leads the way to this 14th century cruciform church with a particularly beautiful tower. The highly decorated, a magnificent roof built in 1495 crowns panelled walls. The 17th century eagle lectern, unearthed again just seventy odd years ago, is the original of a similar lectern in Ely cathedral. Many memorials to ancient village families, the Peytons and the Bernards, can be seen. Sir John Bernard fought at Agincourt while his ancestor, Sir Geoffrey Bernard, was a Crusader who visited the Holy Land with Prince Charles.
