URPoint Details
An island separated from the Island of Colonsay by a narrow sea passage which is dry at low tide. The name is derived from Oran once associated with St Columba.
There are ruins of a 14th century priory.
A small coastal fishing resort on the Sleat peninsula facing an island in the Sound of Sleat where there is lighthouse and remains of an old nunnery
A couple of miles off the Armadale road a rough and hilly by-road goes northwest to Ord on Loch Eishort. The views across the loch from here are superb.
Southwest of Ord on the coast is the ruined Dunscaith Castle on an isolated rock and once home to the Macdonalds of Sleat before they moved to Duntulm.
