Stands on undulating high ground, flanked by the River Ise. Isham literally means 'Home on the Ise'.
St Peter's Church, built of stone in Norman and Decorated styles, is well worth a visit across the road is Dovecote House, a mid-l7th century dovecote with 580 nesting holes.
The core of the village is composed of Church, Middle and South Streets, part of the parish's Conservation Area retaining a fine blend of buildings built with Northamptonshire stone.
Two outstanding examples are All Saints House in Middle Street and Number One Church Street.
