URPoint Details
Situated on the eastern shores of Loch Lomond facing a range of rugged mountains including Ben Ime at 3,318ft, Ben Vane at 3,004ft and Ben Vorlich at 3,092ft.
There was a fort here in 1713 to fend off the Macgregors and was at one time under the command of General Wolfe of Quebec fame.
Nearby are the Arklet Falls on the Arklet Water flowing from Loch Arklet
The falls are associated with Wordsworth's Highland Girl and the path leading northwards by Loch Lomond leads to Rob Roys Cave.
Robert Bruce is supposed to have sheltered here in 1306.
