URPoint Details
The river forms the border between Ross and Cromarty and Sutherland on which are situated some fine falls which flow into Loch Kirkaig. The stream has its source in the Fionn Loch lying to the southeast and dominated by Suilven at 2,399ft one of the strange, isolated Torridon sandstone peaks. The picturesque roads leading southwards from Lochinver are superb in the summer (take great care of the snow, ice and blizzards of winter) and has been called ‘the mad little road of Sutherland’.
