A Deeside hamlet in a beautiful wooded setting on the road from Braemar to the Cairngorms with a stream which merges with the Ely Water.
To the south up the rugged valley of the Ely Water is a deep chasm known as the ‘Colonel’s Bed’ and thought to have been a hiding place of Colonel John Farquharson who fought at Killiecrankie in 1689.
