Level access from ground level to the: Entrance Hall, State Dining Room, Tapestry Drawing Room, China Turret, Armoury Hall, Saloon, North-West Hall, and Exhibition Room. An accessible toilet is also on this level. Loose gravel around the exterior of the Castle and Gardens can make access difficult for wheelchair or pushchair users.

The Duke of Argyll's family, the senior branch of the Campbell Clan, moved from Loch Awe to Inveraray in the early 15th century.
The present building, in the style of a castle was erected to replace an earlier fortified keep.
Displays include French tapestries, Scottish & European furniture.
Of special interest is the collection of swords and armour as well as a genealogical display.
