The two small villages lie a mile apart, southwest of Norwich over the river Yare.
Both churches have pre-Norman round towers
For over 400 years they have been one joint parish, and at times before that the manors have been held by the same families eg the Greshams, and also the Hobarts (Sir Henry Hobart started the building of Blickling Hall).

Intwood All Saints' church dates back to the 15th century and has been in continuous use, though altered and repaired, notably in the 15th century and in 1602 (at the expense of Keswick church) and again in Victorian times.

The Hall originally Tudor was rebuilt in Georgian times and now has Victorian brickwork, the walled gardens are original.

The houses near the church and the Hall vary from thatch through to Victorian. The Saxon cottage nearest to the church is the second oldest in the county and pre-dating the church.

Keswick All Saints' church, was partly dismantled in 1602 to rebuild Intwood church.

Later the Gurney family, owners of the Keswick estate since the mid-18th century, had it partly rebuilt as a family mortuary chapel. This was smaller, as the ruins of the original chancel show.
