The village green is surrounded by picturesque black-and-white half timbered houses and others in a pleasant mellow red brick.
The parish Church of St Peter dates from the 12th century has a battlemented walls and tower are a familiar landmark. In safe keeping are some rare maps left at the vicarage by Charles I when he stayed in the vicarage in 1645, not long before the battle of Naseby.
