Situated by the River Beamish with its lovely 13th century with a rebuilt tower and with Hedgehope Hill rising to 2,348ft is one of the highest of the Cheviot Hills.
On Ingram Hill are remains of an ancient village, and farther up the river, near the waterfall of Linhope Spout is the prehistoric village of Greaves Ash, covering some 20 acres.
