A delightful village with a number of Tudor houses and shops in the main street.
St Peter’s Church dates from the 14th and 15th century with later additions. The churchyard has several curious headstones carved in the shape of a head and shoulders and with incised faces and are a fine example of a type peculiar to this part of Kent and Sussex. The oldest of these decipherable is dated 1673.
