URPoint Details
Visitors come from far and wide to see this beautiful Norman Church of St Mary which dates from about 1170, and has remarkable zigzag and beakhead carving clustered round the doorway and windows on the restored west front. Worthy of note are the medieval heraldic and other windows. The south doorway also displays carvings, among which are sculpted capitals. The tower is impressive, both inside and outside. The vaulted chancel was partly rebuilt in the 13th century. The vicarage house nearby was built not much later than the church.
