A village surrounded by green hills and meadows where the Ecclesbourne Valley in the southern edge of the Peak District.
The houses and cottages are mainly Victorian but the Black Swan is Gothic in architecture.
South Sitch house is a 17th century dwelling with close-set timbers and a rare timber-framed chimney stack. The oldest part of the roof is still thatched.
The Church of St James has a tower and fine spire and dates from the mid 1850s.
