House open April to October on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 1.30 to 5.30pm. .
Wheelchair access via ramps to house ground floor room are level wheelchair available much of the garden is accessible, but gravel drive and paths 1ᄑm of woodland walk accessible adapted WC on ground floor: stairlift to shop and restaurant disabled passengers may be driven to house and disabled drivers will be given a temporary permit to park outside the house braille guides for house and park guide dogs allowed. Dogs allowed in park only on leads.
Ickworth House and Gardens was started in 1795 by the eccentric 4th Earl of Bristol and Bishop of Derry. It has an immense oval Rotunda with two large wings joined by curving corridors, and has the largest private collection of Georgian silver and paintings by Titian and Velasquez. There are also some family portrait by Gainsborough and Kauffman. Photography is allowed in the garden and parks, but not in the house for security reasons. The unusual Italian garden to the south of the house includes lovely evergreens, the Orangery, hidden glades and a temple rose garden.
