URPoint Details
The Parish of Ibstock covers an area of over three square miles, about four miles south of Coalville. With a population of just over 5,000, Ibstock is one of the largest villages in England and of very ancient origin.
The derivation of the name suggests that a Saxon chieftain named "Ibba" established a settlement here - that is, "Ibba's Stockade". In the Domesday Survey, it is listed as being a hamlet with "six plough-lands"
