In the Domesday Book the area once belonged to the monks of Westminster Abbey.
In 2005 a memorial was erected to the fifty two people who died in the terrifying bombing, made up of 52 stainless steel pillars one for each victim and they are grouped together with four clusters, representing the four areas of the bombings
