URPoint Details
The village has two settlements – Church End joined by School Lane to the Woburn Estates End or Main Village End.
Church End has changed little and has some Listed buildings including The Thatched Cottage dated about 1650.
When it was first built and owned by the local midwife, a single lady of dubious character. She added to her income by offering accommodation to journeymen, travelers and the like, when the local inns were full. Travelling highwaymen are known to have used this accommodation and legend has it that to this day, some of their ‘pickings’ lie buried beneath three oak trees in the vicinity.
