A well built and charming market town in the fork of the Rivers Deveron and Bogie and was made a burgh in 1545.
There is salmon and trout fishing in the Deveron and Bogie rivers.
Home of the Gordon Clan and who gave their name to the ‘Gay Gordons’ dance made Huntly their main seat in the 14th century.
The ruined castle just outside the town is an imposing building when it was home in 1752 to the Marquesses of Huntly.
The Standing Stones (Stan’in Stanes of Strathbogie in the town square were originally a Druid circle.
