URPoint Details
Small friendly, well kept resort with the largest seaside town in North Norfolk with long stretches of sand and protected by cliffs of unusual stone.
Hunstanton village and town is one of the few places in Britain where the foreshore is privately owned. The Le Strange family, squires and lords of the manor for more than 800 years, not only own the beach (and, according to a quaintly worded charter, everything in the sea as far as man rising a horse can throw a javelin from the low-tide mark), but they also hold the title of Lord High Admiral of the Wash.
On the village green stands a cross which once stood in the old village.
St Edmund's church built in 1865 has a window depicting the landing on the coast by a saint.
