URPoint Details
A very spread out village and has been here since Saxon times, the name coming from the Saxon ‘hol’ and ‘cot’, two words meaning a dwelling in a hollow.
The church of St Nicholas at the end of the avenue is possibly one of the smallest in the county. It consists of a nave, chancel, tower and a rather large porch for such a small church that has no aisles. Also it is one of the few remaining churches of mainly Tudor architecture.
