URPoint Details
An ancient village originally named Horsham by the Saxons after the stream called the Hor which ran through the village. The ‘St Faith’ was added in the 12th century when the lord of the manor, Robert Fitzwilliam, founded the Benedictine priory of St Faith nearby.
The stream has been important in the life of the village for centuries and at the time of the Domesday Book there were two water mills recorded.
