Horley - Church of St Etheldreda

The Church of St Etheldreda has various styles of Gothic built on a late Norman church. There are dignified tall nave arcades, a glorious south aisle and east window with a rose at the top. The church was restored in 1915, and its screen and rood loft added in 1947-50. See the lovely 18th century organ case, inlaid with brass, and big 15th century wall painting of Saint Christopher, very striking in its detail and tapestried effect. In the churchyard is the 17th century thatched school house a 16th - 18th century manor house is to the south.
